This week on the Alabama Freshwater Fishing Report, we’ve got Andre Davis on to talk about bass, panfish and carp in Birmingham; Lee Pitts on to talk about Lakes Eufaula and Pickwick bass; and Shannon Wood to talk about bream fishing in the Mobile-Tensaw Delta.

First up, Andre Davis reports high and stained water in the Cahaba, but clear waters to be had further upstream in its tributaries. Topwater is getting good, and some anglers are finding success with carp using mulberry flies.

Next, we have Lee Pitts who also reports high water blues. However, dedicated anglers are still finding the bass, as shown by his recent 8 lb fish landed on a topwater frog. Stick around to hear about an innovative new hook that promises more hookups and fewer lost fish when fishing these fun but often challenging lures.

Finally, we have Shannon Wood with the bream fishing report. High water is dampening the bite some, but anglers at last weekend’s tourney at Cliff’s Landing on the Tensaw River still made a good showing.

Join us as Ben discusses how to approach this beautiful, but often challenging fishery.

Next we hear from our good friend Will Strickland over at Mobile Baykeeper, who shares an update on the challenges facing anglers during high water conditions, with heavy dam releases limiting access to productive bream fishing spots. Will also reflects on his roots, reflecting on how his grandfathers passed down their love for the land through hunting and fishing long before they ever would’ve called themselves environmentalists.
