Hello and welcome to another fabulous edition of CFRC’s Airwave YGK Artist in Residence Artist talkbacks supported by the City of Kingston and Kingston Arts Council! In this episode we are chatting with Deena Jacobs aka DJ Deena all about their work as a DJ, their super huge record collection, and of course their upcoming artist residency here at CFRC on April 5th.

Deena deejays using mainly vinyl and has been spinning wax since their childhood. What began as a way to share their passion for record collecting is now a major part of their life on the local music scene. Deena hosts Different Circles on CFRC 101.9 FM in Kingston, Ontario every Friday but locals have probably have danced the night away to their amazing sets at Grad Club, Hotel Wolfe Island, the Legion, Musiikii, 12Cat, Stone City Ales, and Modern Fuel at some point. Deena lived overseas for several years in Glasgow, Scotland as well and established a name for themselves in that HUGE local scene holding residencies and making appearances at a number of Glasgow venues.

Deena will present a beginner level DJ workshop at CFRC on April 5th and follow that up with a live performance spinning some of the best songs you’ve ever heard.
