In April 1997, Judy Smith accompanied her husband on a work trip to Philadelphia, PA. While he attended meetings, she planned to sight see and they’d join up in the evening. On the second day of their trip, Judy never came back to the hotel room. She was unreachable. Months long searches came up empty until a hunter and his son stumbled upon human remains 600 miles away in North Carolina. While several theories emerged, Judy’s murder is still unsolved.

Reagan was beautiful, energetic, hard working, kind and motivated; she was such a bright light. But sometimes the brightest of lights draw attention from all kinds of people, and not all are good. Reagan’s life was stolen from her in February 2017 by a man many argue should have still been incarcerated from previous crimes. Her murder, while it infuriated many in her community, also kickstarted a conversation about the Ohio criminal justice system and called for legislative change.
