このコンテンツについて
Creating a safe and accepting environment for minority women was something Laketa Smith dreamed of doing in her community. She realized that there was a lack of this type of support and decided to step up and make positive change herself. So, in 2018 Laketa founded A Bella LaFemme Society in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Their mission is to provide collegiate minority women with scholarships in order to promote mental wellness. They aim to empower, advocate, reduce traumas, and alleviate hardships through the means of building resourceful sisterhoods within their community. In support of increasing overall safety among women, they also provide free self defense/gun safety courses and have a “shop for free” boutique.
During this conversation we talk about: scholarships as a love offering, helping others heal through the “back door” approach, and supporting your community through vulnerability.
