Brown football has hosted the event annually now for over two decades, starting back in 2004 to raise funds for team captain Lawrence Rubida ('05), who had been diagnosed with Ewing's Sarcoma. Despite Lawrence's passing in 2005, his former teammates and those who followed have lived by his "never quit" mentality and carried on the event in his memory. They also confirm that a repeat participant from Brown's dining services, known as the "Ratty King", continues to compete. However, Brown Bear ('10) and former New England Patriot James Develin still holds the bench press record. BP4C has raised over $200,000, with all of the proceeds going directly to the Cancer Survivorship Programs at The Miriam Hospital in Providence. You can join in the fun on Monday, October 21 on the University's Main Green from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
