We are familiar with Bhagiratha's efforts and the tale of the Ganga's descent to Earth. In southern India, there was a devout king named Sukeshi, who, through intense penance, pleased Lord Shankara. The king prayed for the sacred arrival of the Ganga in the southern region as a holy pilgrimage site. Lord Shankara, granting his request, secretly revealed the arrival of the Ganga and provided a divine fruit as a symbol. He also showed a special method of worship for its consecration. This sacred fruit, a coconut, was filled with Ganga water and became a symbol of purity.
