Each character gives the listener an inside view of how they embraced and expressed the emotional and social deficiencies of their personalities and used them as a method of control, abuse, and extreme cruelty.
While this book presents a marked sadness throughout, it also offers a heartwarming sense of redemption and healing. The author/narrator never gives up on love, and learns to trust herself as she releases the trauma and negative energy that plagued her family for generations.
