このコンテンツについて
A collection of short, ten-minute meditations to support mental health and well-being. These meditations explore different ways to manage stress and anxiety and adopt a positive mindset through mindfulness practice, grounding, the breath, self-compassion and positive imagery. The collection offers an essential tool-kit for anyone not only wanting to manage the symptoms of stress and anxiety better, but practise preventative healthcare.
The effects of chronic or acute stress on the body’s autonomic nervous system makes the mind susceptible to anxiety. Anxiety, in turn, causes physical stress. This may set up a vicious cycle which can seriously undermine health and cause conditions such as chronic gut issues, sleep disturbance, burnout, depression and more.
Guided meditation works with the mind-body connection to put the mind and body in the optimum state for healing. It does this in several ways, firstly by triggering the autonomic nervous system’s parasympathetic response, commonly known as the ‘Relaxation Response’. This allows the body’s major systems, including the heart, respiratory and digestion to move back towards equilibrium. Guided meditation also calms the mind, releases feel-good hormones and induces positive emotional states.
The benefits of guided meditation extend to preventative healthcare by encouraging good breathing habits, release of stress, a calmer disposition and supporting immune function. Guided meditation nurtures self-compassion and self-care and supports healthy thinking and behaviour habits. In short, guided meditation is a gentle, supportive way to re-train the mind and body to desired states of being.
