あらすじ・解説
Joe Henry's newest album is Civilians. As a performer, Henry released nine albums between 1986 and 2003. He's had a sort of cult-following for his work, and his songwriting has been compared to Bob Dylan and Tom Waits. His songs include "Richard Pryor Addresses a Tearful Nation" and "Don't Tell Me", which was recorded by his sister-in-law, Madonna. On his 2001 album Scar, he collaborated with jazz musicians Ornette Coleman and Brad Mehldau. Henry has also produced albums for Soloman Burke and Aimee Mann. (Original Airdate: 1/18/2006)
Then, David Edelstein reviews In the Valley of Elah, which stars Tommy Lee Jones as a former military MP and father of a young soldier who has gone AWOL after returning from active duty in Iraq. The film was written and directed by Paul Haggis. [Broadcast Date: September 14, 2007]
