Cellular companies are responding by dishing up larger data packages at ever faster speeds. Within the next five years, it is likely all carriers will offer unlimited high speed data. Municipalities will run fiber optic cable in most metropolitan areas, offering free wifi hotspots in direct competition with cable companies and cellular providers, and home wifi could easily become a thing of the past. The wired home is fast evolving into the wired planet.
