このコンテンツについて
'Lord's Lyrical Lore' by Nirmal Gupta is to date the only translation of Bhagavad Gita in a verse form that maintains the rhyme structure of the original. The print edition was published in 1991 with an introduction by Swami Lokeswarananda, one of the most erudite scholars on the subject. The spirit of Gita itself that Mr. Gupta sought to capture in his elegant and faithful translation can be best summarized in his own words, as noted in his preface: I have my reservations about the reported quotation from Gita by J. R. Oppenheimer, noted scientist and one of the inventors of the atomic weapon, upon witnessing the first nuclear explosion, “I am become death, the destroyer of the worlds” as, in my opinion, this is not the true essence of Gita. Gita is, as stated by Aldous Huxley, the ‘Perennial Philosophy’. It is supernal synthesis and as quoted by Romain Rolland in his ‘The life of Vivekananda’, “from discords (weave) the most beautiful harmony”.
