あらすじ・解説
Concerned by beggars in his kingdom, the compassionate but naive Prince Lilimond believes his father's taxes are causing starvation. Granted his birthday wish to be King for a day, Lilimond plans to give gold from the treasury to all beggars. However, he is overwhelmed by crowds, including many wealthy impostors seeking handouts. Learning to discern genuine need from greed, he successfully aids the truly poor with far less gold than expected, realizing the complexities of charity and governance and gaining respect for his father's advisors, ultimately understanding that while compassion is vital, careful judgment is needed to help effectively.
