  • There was an amazing, powerful story to be told in this movie about the first battalion of Black women in the Army. Major Charity Adams was the first Black woman to become an officer in the Women's Corps. The Herculean task that they had to undertake. The way that they delivered the mail that no one else could. The uplifting, motivating stories are everywhere.

Unfortunately, Tyler Perry directed this movie. So that means he created a dark-skinned black woman to be the black villain. That means he spent little time discussing Major Adams' rise to Major. He spent little time talking about the battalion as a whole.

But he did make sure to spend half of the movie talking about a magical white man who was the impetus for the lead character to do EVERY SINGLE THING she did in her life after he died.

This movie could have been so much more, and Stephanie from Mocha Minutes and Derik discuss it.

    Enjoy.
